About Us

The WTA is officially recognised as the National Governing Body for Touch in Wales and is responsible for the governance and development of Touch in Wales. The WTA are a non-Profit organisation currently funded by membership fees and managed by an Executive Committee selected by our members.

The WTA has recently undergone a modernisation process to improve its Governance Structure. The WTA is now a Limited by Guarantee Company run by an Executive Board responsible for developing the Strategic Direction for the Sport in Wales.

Below the Executive Board is a sub-structure responsible for the operational delivery of the WTA’s objectives. The objectives of the WTA are:

The WTA are affiliated to the Federation of International Touch (FIT), the International governing body of touch. This entitles Wales to participate in International tournaments and to hold FIT sanctioned events in Wales.

The WTA was established in 1999 to co-ordinate the development of the sport in Wales, by initiating a long term Action Plan and ensuring implementation on an operational level.

Anyone interested in touch, including players, referees and tournament organisers, will be able to come to us for assistance. The WTA will offer refereeing and coaching courses and organise the selections and training for the national squads.

All of the members of the WTA are volunteers who have played and enjoyed the game of touch for a number of years. They have all seen the recreational and social benefits of becoming involved with the sport, from school and junior level up to senior international level, and wish to provide others with that same opportunity
